The new Marcello C.® "Diavolo" Chronographs (#2022) are the latest creative masterpiece from Marcello C. and offer numerous innovations and details all watch aficionados will recognize and appreciate. Different dial colour options, different bezel options, and even a very small edition of a solid gold model.
In 1822, the Frenchman Rieussec registered a patent for the first stop watch, the chronograph. A simple plotting mechanism registered time passed on a rotating dial through lines and dots. This enabled measurements of the duration between the beginning and the end of an event, e.g. between the start and the crossing of the finish line at a 100 yard race.
40 years later, the mechanism was successfully implemented inside a pocket watch. The modern chronograph was born. Even today, a Chronograph is a watch with an additional register for seconds, minutes and, depending on the model, even for elapsed hours. Inside the movement, a special mechanism allows starting of the chronograph, stopping and resetting it back to the zero position without affecting the performance of the actual movement itself. This way, the duration of measured time intervals can be directly indicated.
Now, the Marcello C. 'Diavolo' collection brings the chronograph right up to date with bold, contrasting colours and modern design. All with 200 metre water resistance; superluminova C3 treated hands and luminous numerals; automatic valjoux 7750 chronograph movement with date; 44mm x 15mm case and sapphire crystal caseback.
