Every day, millions of people around the world are afflicted to some degree by rheumatic disorders. The hands are particularly affected, either by degenerative osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, which can be disabling to watchmakers and craftsmen working in watch factories like Vacheron Constantin’s.
Rheumasearch (rheumatology research) was founded in 2007 to support clinical and fundamental research in the rheumatology department of the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and in the rheumatology laboratory of Geneva’s faculty of medicine.
Recognised as a public service institution through its scientific committee of internationally acknowledged experts in rheumatology and its access to private funds, the Rheumasearch Foundation provides practical support to researchers by financing their expenses, salaries, education and equipment.
Vacheron Constantin is convinced of the benefit of this action and has decided to finance the Rheumasearch Foundation’s research projects in rheumatology until the end of 2010.
